Thetimer-onbit,whichisbit4oftheTimerControlRegisterandknownasTnON,providesthe basicon/offcontroloftherespectivetimer.Settingthebithighallowsthecountertorun,clearing thebitstopsthecounter.Bits0~2oftheTimerControlRegisterdeterminethedivisionratioofthe inputclockprescaler.Theprescalerbitsettingshavenoeffectifanexternalclocksourceisused.If thetimerisintheeventcountorpulsewidthcapturemode,theactivetransitionedgeleveltypeis selectedbythelogiclevelofbit3oftheTimerControlRegisterwhichisknownasTnEG.TheTnS bitselectstheinternalclocksourceifused. Timer Mode Inthismode,theTimer/EventCountercanbeutilisedtomeasurefixedtimeintervals,providing aninternalinterruptsignaleachtimetheTimer/EventCounteroverflows.Tooperateinthismode, theOperatingModeSelectbitpair,TnM1/TnM0,intheTimerControlRegistermustbesettothe correctvalueasshown. Cont�ol Registe� Ope�ating Mode Bit7 Bit6 Select Bits fo� the Time� Mode 1 0 Inthismodetheinternalclockisusedasthetimerclock.ThetimerinputclocksourceiseitherfSYS ,fSYS/4ortheLXToscillator.However,thistimerclocksourceisfurtherdividedbyaprescaler,the valueofwhichisdeterminedbythebitsTnPSC2~TnPSC0intheTimerControlRegister.Thetimer- onbit,TnONmustbesethightoenablethetimertorun.Eachtimeaninternalclockhightolow transitionoccurs,thetimerincrementsbyone;whenthetimerisfullandoverflows,aninterrupt signalisgeneratedandthetimerwillreloadthevaluealreadyloadedintothepreloadregisterand continuecounting.Atimeroverflowconditionandcorrespondinginternalinterruptisoneofthe wake-upsources,however,theinternalinterruptscanbedisabledbyensuringthattheETnIbitsof theINTCnregisterareresettozero. Event Counter Mode Inthismode,anumberofexternallychanginglogicevents,occurringontheexternaltimerTCnpin, canberecordedbytheTimer/EventCounter.Tooperateinthismode,theOperatingModeSelectbit pair,TnM1/TnM0,intheTimerControlRegistermustbesettothecorrectvalueasshown. Cont�ol Registe� Ope�ating Mode Bit7 Bit6 Select Bits fo� the Event Co�nte� Mode 0 1 Inthismode,theexternaltimerTCnpin,isusedastheTimer/EventCounterclocksource,however itisnotdividedbytheinternalprescaler.AftertheotherbitsintheTimerControlRegisterhave beensetup,theenablebitTnON,whichisbit4oftheTimerControlRegister,canbesethighto enabletheTimer/EventCountertorun.IftheActiveEdgeSelectbit,TnEG,whichisbit3ofthe TimerControlRegister,islow,theTimer/EventCounterwillincrementeachtimetheexternaltimer pinreceivesalowtohightransition.IftheTnEGishigh,thecounterwillincrementeachtimethe externaltimerpinreceivesahightolowtransition.Whenitisfullandoverflows,aninterruptsignal isgeneratedandtheTimer/EventCounterwillreloadthevaluealreadyloadedintothepreload registerandcontinuecounting.TheinterruptcanbedisabledbyensuringthattheTimer/Event CounterInterruptEnablebitinthecorrespondingInterruptControlRegister,isresettozero. AstheexternaltimerpinissharedwithanI/Opin,toensurethatthepinisconfiguredtooperateas aneventcounterinputpin,twothingshavetohappen.ThefirstistoensurethattheOperatingMode SelectbitsintheTimerControlRegisterplacetheTimer/EventCounterintheEventCounting |
